Temple of Poseidon Day Trip

The Temple of Poseidon is one of the most magical sites in Greece. It is a wonderful way to spend the day while in Athens, and the journey is just as fun as the destination.

There are guided tours to Cape Sounion and Temple of Poseidon, but I highly recommend renting a car so you can stop wherever and whenever you would like. Either way, you should aim to arrive at the Temple around sunset. This way you can enjoy golden hour and watch the sun set over the ocean. Be sure to factor in time for fun stops and snack breaks.

Stop 2:

We saw this tiny temple from the road and decided to pull over and drive right up to it. The entire village was adorable and full of white-washed houses by the ocean.

Stop 3:

The Temple of Poseidon! We got there an hour before the sunset so we could walk around, take photos, and find the best vantage point.
